Hebrews 12: 2
“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Distractions come in all forms and sizes. Things like problems, mistakes, circumstances, surroundings and more. In life most if not all like to move forward and not backward. Although we like to move forward there are things that can hold us back if we allow them to.
Our focus matters! Who and what we focus on determines the results. I know what it’s like to try and do a task, but my mind is elsewhere and it just doesn’t work well. Frustration and irritation sets in which can be even more of a distraction.
The devil is out to destroy our lives. We have an enemy that will use everything he can to throw us off. Falling into sin and the traps of Satan is developed by wrong focus. “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and kill, and to destroy: I (Jesus) am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” If we want to experience abundant living we have to keep our focus on Jesus! Jesus will never lead us astray.
Sometimes it’s something that is good that can distract us from our focus on God. Putting more attention on the good thing than on God. The very thing which was desired becomes an idol.
When we are facing failure, discouragement and disappointment let’s consider where our focus is.
Prayer
Lord help me to focus on you and you alone in times of distraction. Let your Word rise up in me when the cares of this world try to entangle me. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
