Chicken Soup for the Soul is a collection of stories and quotes of inspiration and encouragement to open the heart and rekindle the spirit. The stories of love were a precious reminder to me of how important it is to love those around you and let them know how much they mean to you. Each chapter provides heartening tales on everything from love to parenting to overcoming obstacles.
Just before picking up this book, I sat in my car with tears streaming down my face after receiving a call from my daughter who was at home when the electric company came to turn off our electricity. The words from this book lept off the pages to bring me hope. My focus was immediately shifted from one of hopeless despair to faithful determination. I was empowered by the quote by Dottie Walters, “Failure? I never encountered it. All I ever met were temporary setbacks”. There is always hope.
No matter what you are going through, there is a relevant story in this collection that will lift you up and give you the strength to keep moving forward. This life can be quite hard at times. It is essential to balance it out with reminders that there is light to be found. Chicken soup for the Soul is just that kind of reminder. One to make you smile, laugh, cry, love and think.
