Brian McCann made sure the National League All-Star drought ended Tuesday in Anaheim.  The Atlanta Braves catcher belted a three-run double in the seventh inning off Matt Thornton to lift the Nationals to a 3-1 win.

McCann-Braves-All-Star-MVP-2010McCann earned the game’s Most Valuable Player honor and made sure the National League representative will have home-field advantage in the World Series this fall“The game counts,” McCann told the press after the game, “It means more to me this year because we’re in first place.”

Chicago Cubs right fielder Marlon Byrd threw out Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz in the second to slow an American rally in the ninth inning. Los Angeles Dodger closer Jonathan Broxton picked up the save for the National League.
